Navigating the Map Viewer / Panning and Zooming

Back to CFID User Handbook

The CFID map viewer is powered by ESRI technology and supported by ESRI base map data. The navigation tools are standard for online map interfaces using ArcGIS API for JavaScript.
PANNING – Panning can be accomplished by holding the left button on a mouse and moving the mouse in the direction you want to navigate to on the map. Panning arrows in the corners and on the sides of the map frame can also be used. The up, down, left and right arrow keys can be used to pan horizontally and vertically. The Home, End, Page Up and Page Down keys can be used to pan diagonally. The number keypad can be used to pan using the arrows and other keys to pan horizontally, vertically and diagonally.
ZOOMING – Zooming is facilitated by the zoom bar (see Figure 1 & Figure 2) in the top left of the map frame. A double click on the left button of the mouse will zoom in on the area where the pointer is when clicking. The plus and minus keys on the number keypad will zoom in and out respectively. Hitting the F5 key, which refreshes the page, will zoom out to the extents of the data layer of CFID and bring back the regional view. Since this is the refresh key, dialogue boxes and other CFID features in use will be closed as a result.
